Hospital acquired infection or “nosocomial infection” adversely affects both patients and hospitals. Impact of nosocomial infections ranges from increased length of hospital stay, emotional stress, disability, death of the patients as well as increased hospital cost for the patients and providers. Studies in India have reported nosocomial infection rates from 8% to 58 %. To combat these infections, hospital needs effective methods of disinfection and sterilization which has nowadays been centralized into a single department called Central Sterile Supply Department. In our study Outcome was measures by two parameters: a) User Satisfaction b) Microbial count It was found that in user satisfaction 70% of user end staff are satisfied with the services provided to them. In microbial count of different items sterilized showed that 89 % samples are sterile whereas 11% samples show growth of three different organisms e.g. Coagulase-negative staphylococci, Klebsilla and Act. One of the serious complications that are being experienced by women over many eras has been the issue of postpartum syndrome and the ways of coping with it. It is clear that many women can lose attention to their lives, their babies and their husbands. Actually, they become less happy and more stressful. Yet, this is not bound to the physicality of their beings, it is because of hormones. As is it is known that after childbirth, a dramatic drop in hormones (estrogen and progesterone) in women’s body may contribute to postpartum depression. Other hormones produced by mothers’ thyroid gland also may drop sharply-which can leave mother feeling tired, sluggish and depressed. Frankly, women need to feel emotionally supported in those hard times. Yet how can it be possible when they are fully confronted with the degenerated body image, inconvenient hormone rates and stressed mind after birth? Appropriate antenatal care is proven to play a crucial role in ensuring good outcome of the mother and the baby. Good antenatal care ensures periodic assessment of growth and development of the baby, and supplementation of additional nutrition required for the mother. It also provides prompt recognition of any complication that befall pregnancy, one such dreaded complication being gestational diabetes mellitus. Physical environment, ethnicity, genetics, dietary patterns, lifestyle, obesity, family history of diabetes mellitus, and history of GDM in the previous pregnancy are independent risk factors for the development of GDM. Adult Ovarian Granulosa Cell Tumor: Role of Systemic Chemotherapy and Surgical Treatment

Image
Abstract Ovarian granulosa cell tumors (GCT) are rare ovarian neoplasms. The main treatment for GCT is surgical. The volume of operation depends on the stage of the disease and the age of the patient. The possibility of maintaining fertility in patients of reproductive age in the early stages of the disease and the feasibility of lymphadenectomy are discussed. The positive effect of repeated cytoreductive operations for relapse was demonstrated. Role of chemotherapy in the treatment of GCT, due to the rarity of GCT and the late recurrence of the disease, is still not defined. Adjuvant chemotherapy is not shown to protect against relapse in patients with adult type (AGCT). Hormone therapy is considered to be a promising direction for the palliative treatment of AGCT relapses. Impact of Cervix Uterine Cancer Screening in the Indian Park of Xingu

Abstract Background: There are few exploratory studies on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection and cervical cancer in indigenous populations. Because these women represent a very peculiar population in terms of habits and cultural rituals of its own, HPV infection and its related-oncogenesis potential could not denote the same progression characteristics as compared to the other populations commonly studied. The aim of this study was to evaluate 13 years of cervical cancer screening actions and assistance in the Xingu Indigenous Park, through cytological analysis and DNA-HPV molecular test. Methods: This is an observational, transversal and retrospective study conducted by data analysis of screening and control actions of uterine cervical HPV-associated lesions in the scope of the Xingu project supported by the Universidad Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), Brazil. The population studied consisted of indigenous, sexually active women, aged 11 years or older, belonging to sixteen ethni...
